Curriculum Vitae


Born in Messina, he started his musical studies in his native town at the "Arcangelo Corelli" Conservatory under the direction of Antonio Bavacqua. After being rewarded with the 1st Prize in the international contest "Giuseppe Di Stefano" in Trapani, he made his debut in 1996 in the role of Don Giovanni at the Teatro Politeama in Lecce and in the role of Nemerino in l'Elisir d'Amore in Pistoia, receiving unanimous applause from critics and the public.

He then started on a international career which led him to the most prestigious opera scenes in the world, among which: Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan, Wiener Staatsoper, Staatsoper et Deutsche Oper de Berlino, La Monnaie de Bruxelles, Teatro Real de Madrid, New National Theatre of Tokyo, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro de l’Opera de Roma, Accademia Nazionale de Santa Cecilia et Rossini Opera Festival de Pesaro, with a repertoire counting such famous works as : Don Giovanni, Falstaff, L’italiana in Algeri, Gianni Schicchi, La Sonnambula, I Puritani, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Semiramide, La Cenerentola, Œdipus Rex, L’elisir d’Amore, Don Pasquale, Elisabetta, Regina d’Inghilterra, L’equivoco Stravagante, La Gazzetta, Otello et Il Viaggio a Reims.

In the mark of his career he has worked with the most important conductors, such as : Valeri Gergeev, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Daniele Gatti, Maurizio Benini, Alberto Zedda, Renato Palumbo, Roberto Abbado, Bruno Campanella, Donato Renzetti, Yves Abel and others.

He made his recent debut at the Opéra National de Paris in the Barbiere di Siviglia. He also made his debut in the role of Argirio in Tancredi at the Teatro Regio de Torino. He was also subsequently acclaimed for his interpretations of La Cenerentola at the Deutsche Oper de Berlino and at  the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Roméo et Juliette and L’elisir d'amore at the  Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Regio di Torino, in Valladolid and Barcelona.

Among his next commitments are :  Sigismondo and Stabat Mater di Rossini at the Rossini Opera Festival de Pesaro, La Cenerentola at Mosca, Petite Messe Solennelle de Rossini at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Guillaume Tell at the Opernhaus di Zurigo, il barbiere di Siviglia at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, at the Wiener Staatsoper and at the Opéra National de Paris, Don Pasquale at  Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, L’italiana in Algeri in Bilbao, Armida at the Metropolitan in New York and La fille du régiment at the Hamburgische Staatsoper.

Among his recent performances we can note:  La Sonnambula in Cagliari and Valladolid, L’elisir d'amore in Piacenza, Stabat Mater, Il Cappello di paglia in Florence and Il turco in Italia at the Teatro Carlo Felice de Genova, L’italiana in Algeri at the Staatsoper in Berlin et at the Teatro Regio di Torino, La fille du régiment at Teatro Verdi de Trieste, La Cenerentola at the New National Theatre of Tokyo, La Fille du régiment et L’elisir d'amore in Solothurn, Stabat Mater di Rossini at the Teatro Real de Madrid, il barbiere di Siviglia and La sonnambula at the Wiener Staatsoper, La gazza ladra at the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, La sonnambula, Elisabetta Regina d’Inghilterra et I Puritani at the Monnaie in Brussels, Semiramide and La donna del lago at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, La Cenerentola at the Opernhaus in Zurich, il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, il barbiere di Siviglia in Naples, Ermione at the Rossini Opera Festival de Pesaro.

A refined interpreter of Rossini and and ideal interpreter of Count d’Almaviva (Il barbiere du Siviglia) he quickly made of it his favorite role, playing in the most prestigious scenes such as: the Wiener Staatsoper, Staatsoper in Berlin, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, New National Theatre of Tokyo, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Lirico de Cagliari, Teatro Comunale de Bologna et Teatro Massimo de Palermo.

During the last seasons he had the opportunity to take part in important productions, among which Falstaff at the Teatro La Fenice de Venezia and in Genova, Œdipus Rex at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia de Roma, L’Elisir d'Amore in Detroit, Otello, Il viaggio a Reims, La scala di seta, La Gazzetta, L’equivoco stravagante and Elisabetta Regina d’Inghilterra at the Rossini Opera Festival de Pesaro, Don Giovanni under the conduct of  Riccardo Muti at the Teatro alla Scala, Il viaggio a Reims et il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Gianni Schicchi, L’Elisir d'Amore, La Sonnambula and il barbiere di Siviglia at the Wiener Staatsoper, il barbiere du Siviglia and l’italiana in Algeri at the Staatsoper in Berlin, Petite messe solennelle with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Semiramide et L’Elisir d'Amore at the Teatro Real de Madrid, Don Pasquale and La sonnambula at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
